Come one, come all -- The Joaquin Miller Back to School Picnic is Sunday
September 10. I hope that you will be able to join us for the Back to School Picnic. This will be held on Sunday September 10 at Robert's Recreation Area.
Things generally start going around 11:30 and we will have the grill fired up until about 1 or 1:30.
Last year, the weather was just fantastic and it was a great, relaxing way to spend some time, together with your family and with the other families from Joaquin Miller.
The Dad's club and the PTA host this event, and this is a fun day for
anyone associated with Joaquin Miller School. The JM Dad's will be
grilling Burgers and 'Dogs. For other food items, look for handouts or
in the WalkieTalkie for information about Pot Luck.
There is a $5.00 parking fee for each car at the park so consider
carpooling. We will be in the Bay Vista group area (lower parking lot).
See you at school and do consider dropping by the Park on the 10th. We'd
really love to see you there.

Having trouble getting back into the school routine after the lazy days of summer? Can't believe your baby is starting kindergarten? Well, make that transition a little easier by coming by the PTA First Day of School Mixer on Monday. There will be goodies to eat, coffee and tea to drink, and lots of other parents who know exactly what you're going through! Stop by and see old friends -- make some new ones -- and get a jump on your school volunteering.
We'll have information on helping out in the computer lab, library, math and reading labs, and the Fall Auction. You don't want to miss out on these fun and rewarding ways to get involved at JM and help the school community. See you on Monday!
Just wanted to remind the families of our kindergarteners and new students that we look forward to meeting them at the Kindergarten and New Student Tea, next Tuesday, Aug. 22, from 10-11, in the Multipurpose Room. It is a great introduction to the school, the Kindergarten teachers, the PTA and more.
Then, immediately following the tea, all kindergarteners and their families are invited to continue the fun at Roberts Park for a mid-day playdate!
Looking forward to seeing everyone!
