JM Music Program Subcommittee meeting

The JM Enrichment Committee and Music Program Subcommittee are both meeting soon and need members! The JM Enrichment Committee is responsible for overseeing before- and after-school classes, including the instrumental music program, and coordinating with other before- and after-school programs that take place at our school. Much of the work of this committee takes place over the summer as we plan the program for the coming year.

With the addition of the music program to our responsibilities, we are establishing a Music Program Subcommittee. The Subcommittee, which will report to the Enrichment Program Committee of the school, will be charged with the following tasks:

o Develop and implement procedures to recruit, select, and review a new
strings teacher (including investigating the district's instrumental
music program)
o Seek parent input on the procedures for teacher selection
o Establish overall goals for the music program
o Sponsor an introductory educational program in the fall
o Oversee the administration of the program, including developing and
implementing tools for program evaluation

A first meeting of the JM Music Program Subcommittee will be held this Thursday, June 15, at 7 p.m. in the JM Library. It is due to the urgent nature of selecting a new teacher that we are scheduling this meeting on the last day of school! This meeting will set the tasks and timeline for the subcommittee for the summer. If you are interested in participating but cannot attend the meeting on Thursday, please let me know and I will add you to the subcommittee email list.

The larger Enrichment Committee is meeting on Thursday, July 6, at 7 p.m. at the home of committee member Jamie Woolf. Once again, if you want to participate but cannot attend this meeting, please let me know.

-Lysa Hale, Enrichment Committee Chair
