Our next PTA meeting -- it will be on Thursday, April 26 at 7:00 pm in the library. It has been changed from the 3rd Thursday of the month until the 4th so as to not conflict with the Montera Open House. We hope to have a presentation from JM teachers on how learning and teaching styles differ from grade to grade. We will also have the presentation of the 2007-2008 slate of PTA officers.
Assemblyman Sandre Swanson' has introduced a bill calling for the State to return local control of the Oakland Public Schools to the School Board. It will be heard by members of the Assembly Education Committee at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, April 25 in Sacramento. We will not have a chance to discuss the bill at a PTA meeting before that date, but I wanted to at least make our community aware of it.
