Oct. Update Addendum

Hi Everybody,

My apologies to Chris Jolly and Jasmine Justi because I belatedly realized I neglected to thank them for their work in the computer lab and library. Jasmine and Rhona are also handling our auction class basket.

I would like to hold the Halloween party before lunch on the 31st. The room coordinators will send out reminders about snack sign ups and a specific time soon. Thanks, Marianne

Room 10 Update

Dear Parents,

Here’s a Quick Room 10 Update

All the students have been given their Feast speeches. Please have them memorize and practice their public speaking skills. If they need a costume, please write me a note or come in with them to get one. Since our class heavily favors Wampanoags almost all of our costumes are located in Room 6, Mrs. Green’s room

I will have a conference form outside my classroom. Conference times are eight am and three pm. Ms. Wallsten will be teaching a takeover week, mornings only November 13-15 so I will also hold conferences then. It is possible that there may be a conference week where the students leave at 1:25 each day. However, nothing has been formalized and I would like to get started now. If this occurs, I will adjust the schedule to accommodate the parent i.e. moving a 3pm conference to 1:25 if you wish. If you can’t make any of the conference times, I will be happy to conference with you via the telephone, please let me know.

Halloween is on Wednesday. The students can leave with you to change at 11:40. The parade is at 12:30. No costumes are allowed before lunch.

Curriculum:

We finished our first round of Open Court. Our next unit is “Kindness”.

Please help your child to memorize basic addition and subtraction facts to 20. Flashcards and computer games work well.

Social studies are devoted to feasty issues. The class is studying balance and motion with Mrs. Fong.

A big thanks to Michael Bazeley, Rhona Conte, Luci McNulty and Michiko Luzmoor for helping in the class. Luci and Susan Dovi are typing for us too. Lysa Hale is the Feast chair - a big job! Our whole school thanks Rebecca Petty and Karen Fee and all the other auction volunteers!

After Ms Wallsten leaves at the end of November, it would be great to have some parents help by reading individually with kids or tutoring in math. She’s been a great asset and I think we’re doing well right now.

Truly yours,

Marianne Williams
