Friday's Message

Hot Chocolate and Snowmen
Cindy Lynds and Marcia Riley, Travis's and Tommy's moms, had students measuring the ingredients to make the packets of hot chocolate mix your child brought home to share with you. Of course after making the mix, we made some and sampled it in class. It was yummy, and perfect for a cold winter day. They also did a craft project with the class; students will be using it for their homework. Thank you Cindy and Marcia! The kids really enjoyed the activities.

"Book Bag"
My goal is to give everyone a new "book bag" reader next week so your child will have another reader over the winter break. Please encourage your child to complete his/her current independent reading level book so I can issue him/her another one. Have your child put it in my mailbox when he/she is ready before next Friday.

Here is the recipe for the Hot Chocolate:

2 C. nonfat dry milk powder
3/4 C. sugar
1/2 C. unsweetened cocoa
1/2 C. mini semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 C. powdered nondairy creamer
1/8 tsp. salt
mini marshmallows

Measure all of the ingredients into a mixing bowl and whisk them until they are evenly blended. Spon 3 or 4 generous tablespoons of cocoa mix into your cup and add boiling water. Stir with candy cane and add mini marshmallows on top. Makes about 4 cups of mix.
