HOMEWORK

READING
Read and record in your Reading Log.

Thank you Vivian Kinkead, Julia's step mom, for making the "Book-It" awards for the pizza certificates. Each month your child can earn a pizza certificate for just turning in his/her Reading Log weekly with their homework, something most of you are already doing. Reading is a reward in itself, especially when you do it together. Now you can enjoyu pizza, too.

MATH
We estimated how many pumpkin seeds in the pumpkin we carved. Then we counted them. When we got to our first 100 seeds, students told if their estimations were good, close, or bad; (this was the same activity they did with the plastic jack-o-latern math papers that they brought home.) Then they made another estimation and we continued counting. Did your child tell you how many seeds there were? (590)
The next day students worked in groups counting out 100 seeds by 1s; then 10s. Next they made sets of 5s and counted by 5s.
Have your child count 100 manipulative at home (pennies, beans, toothpicks, any small object). Use the 100 chart provided, and write numerals to 100. Then make sets of ten. Count by tens, then write numerals by 10s. Then make sets of 5 and write the numerals.
*Numbered 100 chart provided for 1-1 correspondence/counting. Use as needed Keep at home for reference.

WRITING

Draw / cut out pictures/name 3 foods that are:
