CORN 2006 FEAST

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT:
HAND SANITIZER
1 CASE OF CORN (48 EARS) +10 A TOTAL OF 58 EARS. THIS WAS PLENTY.
i SPOOL OF COTTON STRING (TYPE USED FOR MAILING PACKAGES)
1 PAIR OF SCISSORS
3 LARGE DISPOSABLE ALUMINUM PANS
1 ROLL OF HEAVY DUTY ALUMINUM FOIL
2 OVEN MITTS
2 ROLLS OF PAPER TOWELS
1 BOX OF LARGE GARBAGE BAGS
1 SHARP KNIFE TO CUT CORN IN HALF AFTER COOKED
1 CUTTING BOARD TO CUT CORN IN HALF
2 PAIRS OF TONGS FOR TAKING CORN OFF GRILL AND SSRVING LATER
BUTTER CUT IN PATS
1 GALLON SIZE BUCKET
1 PLASTIC SOAKING CHEST FOR CLEANING CORN

PRE-PREPARATION:
PRECUT STRING ABOUT 5-6 INCHES LONG

DIVIDE THE CORN IN SECTIONS By THE NUMBER CHILDREN you WILL HAVE AT EACH TIME INTERVAL

HAVE CHILDREN FILL BUCKET WITH WATER AND POUR INTO SOAKING CHEST

CORN PREPARATION:
HAVE CHILDREN REMOVE THE CORN SILK, OR 'HAIR" FROM THE CORN BY PULLING DOWN THE LEAVES WITHOUT PULLING THEM OFF. THEN RETURN THE LEAVES TO THEIR ORIGINAL POSITION.

PUT IN WATER TO CLEAN

HAVE THE CHILDREN TIE THE STRING ON THE CORN


GRILLING:
PUT CORN ON THE GRILL

PUT AN ALUMINUM PAN WITH A BIT OF WATER NEXT TO GRILL FOR COOKED CORN

POST GRILLING:
AFTER CORN IS COOKED, COOL A BIT, THEN SCORE WITH A SHORT KNIFE CUT AND HAVE CHILDREN BREAK CORN IN HALF
HAVE CHILDREN TAKE HUSK OFF OF CORN

PUT ABOUT 2 INCHES of WATER IN ALL THREE ALUMINUM PANS
AFTER CUTTING CORN IN HALVES PLACE CORN IN PANS
PUT BUTTER ALL OVER CORN AND PLACE PANS ON GRILL TO KEEP
HOT.

COVER PANS WITH FOIL
AT THIS POINT YOU JUST WAIT UNTIL IT IS TIME TO PLACE CORN ON TABLE FOR SERVING

This station runs very smoothly and is very low maintenance. It really takes two adults - one to help the children prepare the corn, and one to grill the corn. The children liked preparing the corn and had alot of fun doing so. Watch for potential burns from the cooked corn - make sure corn is cooled before dividing in half.
