“Part Two of the How-To Guide: How to shop the Sign-Up boards.”
Sign-Up Boards are part of the Silent Auction portion of the evening. Sign-Up boards are an opportunity to offer larger group events or sell large amounts of the same item. The Sign-Up boards are labeled and include a description of the event, the cost, the date etc. Most of these are fixed price events for large groups. It is a wonderful way to meet new families, or to schmooze with old pals. When the number of “slots” are filled, that’s it! You will have to wait another whole year to get some of these goodies! Each spot is for one person, or one item. For example, if both you and your significant other want to go on the Cocktail Party, sign up for 2 slots.
Most sign up boards have a fixed price - however, there are a few boards where bidding is progressive, including some teacher outings. For each event there are a select number of available spots, and the spots are awarded to the highest bids. If there is a tie, the highest bid in each column will be selected. Again, the best way to get what you want is to put down a high bid!
