Joaquin Miller School, Home of the Wolverines
Walk onto the Joaquin Miller campus and you’ll notice a few things right off the bat. A wide variety of student work lines every hallway. Parents are always on their way to or from volunteering in the classroom or simply working together on school improvement projects. The school is beautifully maintained—from the parent-created garden in the front of the school to the garden in the back, built with the help of the community-based Hillside Gardeners.
Joaquin Miller School is a K-5 elementary school nestled among evergreens in the Montclair district in the foothills of Oakland. It is one of 90 public schools in the Oakland Unified School District. In 1989 Joaquin Miller was recognized as a California Distinguished School. We have a student body of 421 students. We have a very active PTA that supports all aspects of our school. The vision for Joaquin Miller students includes fostering confidence and compassion as we nurture the potential and curiosity of each individual in a safe, respectful learning environment.
This website has a wealth of information for parents. If you are new to the school or a prospective parent, we invite you to learn about our classes and curriculum and read through our FAQs and Meet the Staff.
